Clinical microbiology in Region Kronoberg operates laboratory services in Karlskrona and Växjö, tasked with providing healthcare in Region Kronoberg and Region Blekinge with diagnostics and advice in the areas of bacteriology, virology, immunology, mycology, and parasitology. The laboratory has reference assignments at both national and international levels within the profile area of antibiotic resistance. Our operations are accredited by Swedac, which imposes high demands on quality systems, competence, and documentation. Therefore, we place great emphasis on accuracy in our work.

At the clinic, we have about 70 employees, of which 30 are in Karlskrona and 40 in Växjö. We work in an interprofessional environment, and together we strive to continuously improve and develop our operations regarding both diagnostics and working conditions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a laboratory assistant, you will be placed in our sample reception, where you will become an important part of the team and work with various tasks in several areas:

• Laboratory Work: Perform pre-analytical tasks, including unpacking and registering incoming samples, preparing equipment, materials, and samples for analysis, and setting up certain types of samples.
• Administrative Tasks: Manage referrals and documentation in the organization's system, as well as ordering and receiving consumables.
• Customer Contact: Be the face of the organization through phone calls and advice regarding, for example, the analysis range, sample collection containers, and referral management. Receive customers visiting the sample reception and assist them with questions in the aforementioned areas.
• Daily Operations, Maintenance, and Cleaning: Contribute to the laboratory's daily operations by cleaning laboratory and staff areas, replenishing consumables, performing simple maintenance on laboratory equipment, and other tasks within the sample reception.

Introduction: We offer a well-planned introduction that provides you with both knowledge and understanding of our processes, flows, and the responsibilities of each professional group and section. The introduction also includes shadowing and practical training in tasks related to the sample reception. Furthermore, you will shadow other sections within the laboratory and, if needed, visit the clinics we collaborate with.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a high school education and work experience from one or more of the following areas:

• Outpatient or inpatient care
• Primary care
• Laboratory operations

You have good knowledge of:

• Sample handling
• Referral management
• Basic hygiene and dress code (BHK)
• Handling of pathogens

You also have good computer skills and proficiency in Swedish (equivalent to C1 level), both spoken and written. We would also like you to have knowledge of Cosmic.

You are comfortable using computers and have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written (equivalent to C1 level). Experience with the Cosmic journal system is an advantage.

As a person, you are curious, social, and structured. You approach new tasks and challenges methodically and with commitment. You find it easy to make contacts and collaborate with colleagues, while also being able to plan and organize your work independently.

The position is a temporary contract until 2026-12-31, with the possibility of extension.
